It has been confirmed that the next Liaison Group Forum meeting was set for Agenda at 1.00 pm, Wednesday 15th July at Littlebeck, rather than Longbeck that is a little further North.

The ‘Anglo Teck’ merger was within the projected time frames, with Regulatory Approvals confirmed from the UK, Canada, Europe, South Africa and only one outstanding approval, expected to join in within the 18 month time frame.

A Construction update was swiftly followed by PS who confirmed that the Production Shaft was still under care and maintenance. The Service Shaft sinking was progressing with ‘Grout Curve 19’ and the SBR was now 904m below ground, heading smoothly towards the 1060m depth at ‘Grout Curve 25’. Do the Math. (That’s about 25m per shout)
Stella (TBM) had advanced from 30,278m towards the Esk, and now stands at 30,466m.
At which point the Sleight Parish Councillor thought he would pop in for a Cup of Tea and Cake. That brought the Revolution to an equal of Seven a side.

Temperatures underground are between 18 and 23 degrees at the shaft and TBM levels accordingly, subject to machinery action.

Not much had changed on the site plan, MOP Q: What is that Big Black building? A: It is a 900 person ‘change house’ and is temporary, to be moved on completion to the other side of the site. Out of site out of Sound. Plants. Eh? The Bunds were getting higher.
The exploratory ‘Bore Holes’ on site had reached the 1600m level and ‘daughter holes’ 100m away were being drilled to shore up the JORCs and satisfy the investment case.

The two off site ‘Bore Holes’ (Dean Hall and Partridge Farm) had received planning approval from the NYMP on 9th July. Timescales for DH was prep for August with a Rig September. PF timescale was expected with prep September and Rig (subject to availability and NYC highways for access) in November. Somin to do with Norton Hall.
The Winding gear at Lockwood had been sold and recycled. Seams are not always of the same thickness.
That brought us neatly onto the S 73 Variation Application that had been validated, consultations collated with supplementary Environment Impact data to be collected and processed before a final Planning date to be set by the NYMP, this was not to be a delegated decision. Site visits would be a logistical nightmare so there was no point in objecting.
BF then listed all the balance of works including hectares of new tree plantations, boundary walls, small tourism business grants, Goathland works, Cinder Track E-bike hire, public rights of way and bridge repairs. New Ponds and traditional skills workshops, and a compulsory purchase order to gain access into a valley. Thirty archaeological sites with feasibility studies for farming and using wetland systems to protect the landscape. This was all so last year (NYMP runs from May to April). To be affirmed...
NYMP focus for the current year was to ‘match fund’ £5mil, by raising the same, to be used for restoring Langdale & Fylingdales Moors to include replanting, renewing the firebreaks (SSI) by varying the ground areas with wetter and alternative plantations.
Slippery Scopes ;- ?
"The Government have given us £3.2 million which we have had to match and we have used this years Woodsmith s106 Landscape & Ecology funding (£300k) plus funding for peat restoration under the Boulby s106 contribution (c£180k). Other match has come from Natural England, Historic England and the Environment Agency.”
